2015: A Year Of Goodbyes

When the end begins
say goodbye
to all regrets.
To the “yes
you never said.

Don’t feel bad
for mistakes
you need no longer make.
You’ve committed them all
if that’s even possible.

Adjust your sails
trim them tight
the ocean’s wide
allow its depths
to swallow
begotten sorrows.

Behold magnificence
almost in sight.

Cut all ties
to your sorry past.
If nothing more
just be glad
it didn’t last.

Ever mindful
eternally grateful
for what has passed.

Belong to no one.
Gather together
all the pieces of you.

Tattered bits
unwanted parts
scattered in the winds.
Accept and embrace
they were you.

Make whole
the holiness
that is you.

Renew
throw wide open
all the windows
leading to your heart.
Release her.

Make all your faces fit
the you
you hardly knew.

Resist the need
to rekindle ties
which no longer bind.

Make room for new loves.
Somehow
they do exist.

Create pockets of passion
allow them to blossom
in intoxicating fashion.

Conform to no one.
Compromise with nothing.

The year of goodbyes
is almost over.
Dry those tears.
Confound your fears.

Behold thy future:
Dazzling!

Forgotten. Not.

Woman
Woman At Temple Street

Old
Lined
Limned with time.

You are old
The crazed mirror
Winked at you.

Sins are what you see
Leaning against glass
Outside buildings
Forbidden you.

People gone
Family none
Love unknown.

Pain, your trustworthy friend.

Who are you?
What were you?
Before time began.

Ravaged look
Famished frame
Now who are we to blame?

The years were unkind
Marching unmindful
Heedless
Merciless.

Bleeding bodies
Too dead to care.

Never you mind
It won’t be long
Before answers come
To questions asked
Directed at a god
You neither see nor feel.

Forgotten

You are not.

Listen, Oh God

Chapel
Chapel of The Holy Cross, Sedona, Az

It’s all in the listening

Not the rush of words, no

Torrents of pain

Silent as the rain

Mute echoes deep within

Lend him your ears

Give him your heart

Listen with

Listen to

Your heart.

It’s all in the listening

A crush of memories

Scorching, searing, seething

Drums of distant dreams

Defined, defeated, denied, destroyed

Plucking figments from eager breasts

Impervious yet ready to yield

Suffer them your hearing

Your tender mercy

There’s precious little left

When they bid goodbye.

It’s all in the listening

Can you

Will you

Listen please?

Two souls floating as one

Vessels of wonder

Ears enchanted

Hearts all aflutter

Recognize love

Summoned from all eternity

Anger a heap of embers

Guilt, gossip, betrayal

Mere lessons we lived, learned, taught.

It’s all in the listening

You shift

I shift

One step forward

Two steps back

But we move

Stepping into the groove

We listen, we blossom

My illusions for your compassion

Your explosions, my ecstasy

You give, I give, we forgive, we receive

We hear.

It’s all in the listening

God is silent

Silence is key

I shall not interrupt

The temple stands hushed

You are the temple

Thou art sacred

It’s all in the listening

Listen with

Listen to

This heart.
